The Process

Immortalizing the magic of your special day takes more than just hitting poses and having a nice camera. It needs a blend of artistry and giving space to allow for the truthful moments to come to the surface. That means moving beyond a shot list and being open to complexities and authenticity that give way to rich and beautiful moments. Dive into my working process to see what you can expect with me as your photographer.

  • After you fill out the form I will be in touch with you within 48 hours.

Prior to booking and after confirming that your desired date is available, I'd love to catch up over a coffee or chat over a call to learn about you, your plans, visions, and expectations, and answer any questions you may have. Based on this call/meeting, I will deliver a customized quote to you.

  • As an anglophone in Paris with working proficiency in French (and Chinese), I’m uniquely equipped to help you plan your photo routes and cafe/restaurant/museum stops. Even for locations further afield, I am here for advice on timeline, recommendations, and vendor referrals!

  • To officially secure your date(s), you must return a signed contract and a retainer of 50% of the quote. The remaining 50% is due 30 days before your event.

  • Ah! The momentous, adventurous day is finally here. Whether it’s a solo photo shoot to a large wedding, I’d be thrilled to witness, celebrate, and document your day.

  • You’ll receive your photos through a curated and private online gallery.

For packages that include fine art prints, I prefer to hand deliver the prints to you and then send the entire online gallery.

FAQ

  • My job truly is to be present and to notice, and that deeply informs my mix of documentary and artistic style. This is why I encourage moving away from a shot list -- while we know the outline of what will happen, the magic comes in the unexpected and in-between moments. My goal on your elopement is to have guided curated moments and then moving into the background to capture the authentic moments that happen throughout the event. The end result is a gallery that documents the spontaneous, emotional moments and directed scenes to artistically record your love story.

I never want my couples to feel like they’re being pulled off onto a photoshoot when they want to be with each other, their friends, and their family, so the curated portraits are done quickly and in quiet moments.

  • Yes, I work with both film and digital. I have a deep love of film — it is so gentle on skin, fabrics look dreamy, and the colors are stunningly rich. It’s not just a vibey feel, the details from film (particularly in good light) are unbeatable.

From an artistic perspective I love that film has a certain level of unpredictability that lends an incredible beauty to the final photo. The reality that there’s an out of control element that tends to transcend what I saw as a photographer is a constant draw artistically. I include film in all my portrait, elopement, and wedding packages.

  • I’m based in Paris, France and yes, I am thrilled to travel for a photography session.

  • The first step is to initiate contact by filling out the form at the bottom of this page. Prior to booking and after confirming that your desired date is available, I'd love to catch up over a coffee or chat over a call to learn about you, your plans, visions, and expectations, and answer any questions you may have. Based on this call/meeting, I will deliver a customized quote to you.

After you've chosen your desired package and are ready to proceed, you'll receive a contract with package details. Once I receive the signed contract and 50% retainer fee, the date is yours and my calendar is booked. The final balance is due 4 weeks prior to the event date.

If selected, we will also begin planning the engagement shoot. Many couples like these shoots five months before the elopement, but that's not a hard or fast rule.

Once on board we begin curating your location(s) and the path that we'll take.

Two weeks before the event we'll have a final check in to confirm all the details (location, timeline, etc).

  • On average:

Event sessions (digital only) have a 5 business day turnaround.

Portrait sessions have a 2-3 week turnaround.

Elopements sessions have a 4-5 week turnaround.

Wedding session shave a 7-8 week turnaround.

If our contract specifies a longer turnaround time, that will take precedence over the average times stated on this page. It is my goal to deliver you the best quality pictures in a timely manner, and when projects/schedules allow, I deliver early.

  • Photos are delivered via an online gallery for you to share with family and friends. I highly recommend that you download all the photos and back them up on your own hard drive or preferred storage system. As someone who cut their teeth in TV and archaeology, two fields that live or die on information backup, I harp on "you have three backups, or you don't have any."

When possible with clients in Paris, I love to hand deliver ordered prints. Elopement and wedding sessions include a set number of prints, and it brings me so much joy to unveil these to the couple. Prints can be added to other sessions as well.

These memories deserve to come to life in physical form and not just exist on phones, desktops, and hard drives.

  • If you are eloping or getting married I highly recommend getting an engagement session beforehand. The engagement session is a very relaxed, romantic leaning photoshoot and is the best way for us to get to know each other, and for you to feel comfortable in front of the camera. I will help you choose locations, timing, outfits, and posing.

It's a great way for you to get into your flow and feel comfortable before the camera. In my experience building the rapport in an engagement session leads to better photo results and, most importantly, less stress on the day of your elopement or wedding.

Let’s create some magic together. Thank you for considering me, I respond to every inquiry personally. Please fill out the brief form below to start your inquiry. If you don’t get a response within 48 hours, please email me directly at kam@kamdavisphoto.com
